Job summary

Hotel Champlain Burlington, Curio Collection by Hilton, seeks a Director of Human Resources to champion people initiatives, recruit top talent, enforce policies, and support wage and benefit programs. You will coach managers, drive training, and uphold compliance while maintaining a positive, engaged workplace.

You will oversee safety programs, payroll accuracy, and record-keeping while fostering a culture of open communication and recognition across a hospitality team.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years HR experience in hospitality or related industries.
• Demonstrated supervisory experience and strong leadership skills.
• Knowledge of employment laws and proficiency in Windows Operating Systems.
• Excellent communication, multitasking, and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Oversee recruiting, interviewing and recommending candidates for all positions.
• Enforce HR policies, employment laws and property regulations.
• Lead training, orientation, coaching and development programs for staff and managers.
• Manage wage, salary and benefit programs, performance evaluations and union relations.
• Spearhead safety incentive programs, Loss Prevention SOPs and committee participation.
• Streamline internal communications, maintain personnel files and reporting.
• Promote open-door policies and engage employees through newsletters and surveys.

• Policy Prodigy: Communicate, instruct, and enforce HR policies, employment laws, and property regulations to keep everything compliant and running smoothly.
• Coach & Cheerleader: Foster a positive, team-oriented environment by leading training, orientation, coaching, and development programs for staff and managers.
• Benefits & Bucks Guru: Manage wage, salary, and benefit programs, set up performance evaluations, and maintain union relations, ensuring everyone is rewarded fairly.
• Safety Superhero: Spearhead safety incentive programs, Loss Prevention SOPs, and committee participation—keeping the workplace secure and efficient for all.
• Paperwork Whiz: Streamline internal communications, maintain personnel files, expedite reporting, and keep record-keeping organized and up to date.
• Culture Champion: Practice open-door policies, promote friendly service, encourage feedback, and keep everyone engaged—whether through newsletters, suggestion boxes, or Associate Opinion Surveys.

Education & Experience

• Minimum of 5 years’ HR experience in hospitality or related industries, or equivalent education and experience.
• Demonstrated supervisory experience and strong leadership skills.
• Knowledge of employment laws and proficiency in Windows Operating Systems.
• Excellent communication, multitasking, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work with complex data and financial information, meeting deadlines consistently.
