Job Description Summary

The Bartender is responsible for consistently delivering results that contribute to the mission and overall success of the hotel by accomplishing performance objectives covering the social venues of the hotel. The bartender sets-up, services, and breaks-down the bar area ensuring a high level of quality, consistency, and service.

Responsibilities:

• Greet guests pleasantly, promote house drinks, and utilize up-selling skills to maximize revenues.
• Prepare beverages requested by customers following established standards; coordinate food service with restaurant(s) if applicable.
• Monitor guest behavior and alcohol consumption; check IDs; notify management of excessive drinking or impaired guests.
• Ensure safety and service quality, making recovery gestures as needed to ensure guest satisfaction.
• Set up the bar with liquor, mixers, ice, garnishes, and glassware; perform pre- and post-shift side-work; requisition supplies.
• Manage inventory and ensure liquor security; handle cash and credit payments accurately.
• Maintain cleanliness and proper operation of all equipment; ensure the bar area is clean and attractive.
• Promote teamwork and coordinate with other departments.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Basic reading, writing, and math skills.
• Knowledge of liquor brands, beer, wine, and garnishments; formal bartending training preferred.
• Must meet legal age requirements and speak fluent English.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds, move about, and perform bending and stooping.
• Good communication skills; alcohol awareness certification or food handler card may be required.
• Work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Work Area:

Bar, lounge, kitchen, and other F&B areas.
