Job summary

The Holiday Inn Express, part of Buffalo Lodging Associates, is seeking an Assistant Chief Engineer to join our Maintenance Team. This role involves assisting with maintenance operations and ensuring high-quality service for our guests.

Responsibilities include performing basic repairs, maintaining electrical and plumbing systems, and ensuring preventive maintenance is completed on hotel equipment. Candidates should have two years of maintenance experience and valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Two years of maintenance experience in a hotel or a related field.
• One year of supervising staff experience is preferred.
• Must be able to bend, kneel, lift, push, carry, and pull up to 75 lbs.
• Valid driver’s license is required.

Responsibilities

The Holiday Inn Express is looking for an Assistant Chief Engineer to join our Maintenance Team!

Role:

Responsible for assisting the Chief Engineer in the coordination of maintenance operations. Major duties include basic repair work, painting, wall covering, plumbing, electrical work, pool operations, preventative maintenance, and indoor & outdoor grounds upkeep.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform basic maintenance procedures to maintain high quality guest service.
• Inspect guest rooms.
• Maintain proper chemical levels in pool and spa areas in accordance with local health codes.
• Ensure routine preventative maintenance on laundry equipment, heating and air conditioning units, ice machines, fire extinguishers, fire/smoke alarms, lawn sprinklers, lawn equipment, exercise equipment and plumbing are performed as required by the manufacturer and in accordance with the warranty specifications.
• Assist the Chief Engineer in developing training, department protocols, and other compliance procedures of the Maintenance department.
• Assist the Chief Engineer with vendors’ relationships and integration, key control, logs, and any other duties determined by Chief Engineer and General Manager.
• Listening and responding to guests’ requests or complaints.
• Review maintenance problems, complaints and work orders to prioritize and schedule work assignments.
• Monitoring and inspecting assigned work.
• Trouble-shooting, diagnosing and repairing malfunctioning electrical/mechanical systems and equipment.
• Inspecting property to identify potential and current needs.
• Executing on-going appropriate maintenance programs.
• Performing preventive maintenance assignments on a scheduled basis.
• Servicing the hotel’s pool, including adjusting chemicals and cleaning filters.
• Completing maintenance logs.
• Maintaining the building exterior.

What you bring:

• Two years of maintenance experience in a hotel or a related field.
• One year of supervising staff experience is preferred.
• HVAC, electrical, plumbing, boiler operations, and general maintenance skills are required. Must be able to bend, kneel, lift, push, carry, and pull up to 75 lbs. Requires reaching overhead, climbing, crouching, and twisting.
• Valid driver’ license is required.
