Job summary

AAF International is seeking a Hot Melt Machine Operator to set up, operate, and monitor pleating and filter assembly equipment in a manufacturing environment in the United States. You will ensure products meet specifications, quality standards, and production targets while adhering to safety guidelines.

The role requires 1–3 years of machine operation experience, ability to read work instructions, and basic math skills, with preference for experience on pleating equipment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 1–3 years of machine operation experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with pleating or automated assembly equipment preferred.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read and follow work instructions and product specifications.
  • Basic math and measurement skills.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and monitor pleating and/or filter assembly machines.
  • Adjust machine parameters (pleat height, spacing, tension, adhesive application, cure times) to meet product specifications.
  • Load raw materials including filter media, frames, and adhesives.
  • Inspect pleats, bonds, and finished filters for defects, uniformity, and dimensional accuracy.
  • Identify and segregate non-conforming materials in accordance with quality procedures.
  • Perform routine equipment checks, cleaning, and minor maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot minor mechanical or process issues and escalate as needed.
  • Accurately complete production records, work orders, and equipment logs.
  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety guidelines, and work instructions.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, 5S, waste reduction).
  • Collaborate with quality, maintenance, and production teams to meet daily output goals.

The Hot Melt Machine Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring pleating and/or filter assembly equipment used in the production of filtration products. This role ensures products are manufactured to specification while meeting quality standards, safety requirements, and production targets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up, operate, and monitor pleating and/or filter assembly machines
  • Adjust machine parameters (pleat height, spacing, tension, adhesive application, cure times) to meet product specifications
  • Load raw materials including filter media, frames, and adhesives
  • Inspect pleats, bonds, and finished filters for defects, uniformity, and dimensional accuracy

Work Environment
  • Industrial manufacturing facility producing filtration products
  • Exposure to filter media, adhesives, and production equipment
  • Required use of PPE (safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, etc.)
Preferred Experience
  • Experience operating hot melt or similar pleating/mini-pleat equipment
  • Background in air filtration manufacturing
  • Familiarity with production tracking systems (ERP)
  • Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma experience
