Job summary

InterContinental Indianapolis, operated by IHG Hotels & Resorts, is seeking a Host for Serliana. You will greet guests, present menus, and guide them to seating, while coordinating with servers and maintaining the reservation book.

The role offers a dynamic, guest-focused environment with opportunities across full-time or part-time availability and exposure to a luxury hotel setting on Monument Circle.

Qualifications

• Ability to lift, push and pull up to 50 lbs (23 kg) and bend/kneel as needed.
• Good reading, writing and basic math skills.
• Flexibility to work night, weekend, and holiday shifts.
• Excellent communication and a warm, welcoming demeanor.
• OpenTable experience is a plus.

A little taste of your day-to-day

Every day is different, but you’ll mostly be:

• Meet and greet guests as they arrive, offer choice of seating, and then escort them to the table and present menu.
• Inform servers for new guests.
• Maintain an accurate waiting list as needed; advise guests when seating is available.
• Control the reservation book.
• Answer host stand telephone promptly and courteously.
• Maintain knowledge of table numbers and seating capacities for the shift.
• Inspect tables and buffets for proper settings.
• Assist team with side work, clearing tables, and other tasks as requested when not actively working the host stand.
• Ensure proper lighting and heating in the area; ensure proper volume of background music.

What We Need From You

• The strength to lift, push and pull big objects up to 50lbs (23 kg) which can also involve bending and kneeling
• A good grasp of reading, writing and basic math
• The flexibility to work night, weekend, and holiday shifts
• Compliance with local laws on food handling and serving alcohol – you’ll need to be above the minimum age required and fluent in the local language
• Great communication – you’ll be warm, welcoming, and easy to talk to
• Open Table experience is a plus.
