HOST POSITION PROFILE

Reports To: Director of Food + Beverage - Position is Non-Exempt

THE ROLE

The Restaurant Host reports to the F&B Managers and works collaboratively with other F&B team members, including bartenders, servers, dishwashers, cooks, and chefs. You should possess basic service techniques, manage time effectively, and assist guests to create memorable first impressions. Reliability, responsibility, punctuality, and a positive attitude are essential. You will foster a respectful, collaborative, and ego-free team environment, embodying the hotel’s values of hospitality and teamwork.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Uphold the company’s principles of People, Place, and Character, fostering collaboration and translocal hospitality.
  • Greet guests warmly, assist throughout their experience, and ensure their satisfaction by responding promptly and effectively to requests.
  • Participate in daily line-ups and staff meetings to share ideas, receive feedback, and strategize improvements.
  • Maintain knowledge of menus, ingredients, and availability; serve alcohol responsibly and legally; handle monetary transactions accurately.
  • Serve food and beverages according to guest requests, adhering to health and safety procedures.
  • Keep work areas clean and organized, demonstrate urgency in responding to guest needs, and show respect for guests, peers, and equipment.
  • Learn and understand culinary and beverage terms; use menu knowledge to enhance guest experiences.
  • Monitor physical facilities’ conditions and communicate issues promptly to management.
  • Assist in other F&B areas such as Banquets, Bar, and In-Room Dining as needed.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
  • Passion for community, food, and guest service.
  • Minimum of one year experience as a restaurant or banquet server, preferably in a hotel setting.
  • Alcohol service certification (IPACT) and SafeStaff Certificate or ability to obtain within 30 days.
  • Must meet local age requirements for alcohol service.
  • Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Fluency in English, both verbal and non-verbal.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Continuous standing and walking, negotiating wet floors and steps.
  • Fine motor skills for pouring, decorating, and setting up.
  • Ability to lift and carry tables, chairs, and trays up to 30 lbs.
  • Endurance for 4-5 hours of continuous standing and walking.
  • Ability to work in extreme temperatures, including freezers and kitchens.
