Job description

The Host responsibilities include greeting guests, providing accurate wait times, and escorting guests to the dining and bar areas. For this role, the Host should have solid organizational and people skills to make sure our guests have a positive dining experience from the moment they arrive until their departure.

Requirements

THE NITTY-GRITTY (The Essential Job Duties)

• Welcome guests to the venue
• Provide accurate wait times and monitor waiting list
• Manage reservations
• Escort guests to assigned dining or bar areas
• Provide menus and announce Servers' name
• Greet guests upon their departure
• Coordinate with wait staff about available seating options
• Maintain a clean reception area
• Cater to guests who require extra attention (e.g. children, elderly)
• Answer incoming calls and address guests' queries
• Assist wait staff as needed
• Ensure that items are fully stocked, and equipment is in good working condition
• Strong knowledge and consistent use of SNHD regulations and standards
• Must be able to work cooperatively and effectively in a team
• Consistently maintains clean and safe work area for self and other Team Members
• Participate in seamless operation between BOH + FOH staff members ensuring proper service to our guests
• Maintain a clean, hygienic, and organized work environment including stocking of supplies, polishing cutlery/glassware, folding napkins, cleaning menus, sanitizing tables, etc.
• Explain basic details of food dishes and beverages to guests
• Perform to high standards of excellence, execution, and cleanliness
• Always keep your active SNHD Food Handler ' s card with you while on propert y
• Report health and safety incidents and concerns directly to leadership in an accurate and timely manner
• Contribute to successful SNHD health inspections
• Monitor and ensure cleanliness of all place settings, tabletops, seats and floor
• Communicate with cashier and servers for needs and any guest service issues
• Actively participate in all scheduled required training sessions

WHAT IT TAKES (The Qualities We Look For)

• Ability to move quickly and efficiently through the dining room and potentially kitchen
• Work environment is noisy, must constantly receive and communicate information
• Knowledge of health and safety rules in a kitchen
• A team player with good communication skills
• Patient with an ability to stay positive under pressure
• Experience in managing reservations
• Excellent communication skills (via phone and in-person)
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to monitor the entire dining and bar area

MUST HAVE'S

• Current, legal, and unrestricted ability to work in the United States
• High school or equivalent education required
• Food Service Handler Card that is currently valid for a minimum of at least 6 months
• Preferred: 1-2 years' experience in a full-service restaurant or lounge
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays

• Comply with all safety and health department procedures as well as all state and federal laws
• Maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance
• Adhere to hotel policies including but not limited to attendance, safety, and behavior

THE WORKING CONDITIONS

• Lift and carry 30 lbs. unassisted
• Stand for periods of 8-10 hours. Proper footwear is required
• Communicate clearly in verbal and written English
• Bend, squat and stretch in areas of limited space to perform cleaning, organization, and other duties
• Work in an environment that is subject to varying levels of cold, heat, smoke, light (including flashing lights), and sound. Incumbents are at times subject to hazards such as chemicals; proper safety precautions will be taken. This position occasionally works outside and is subject to all weather Proper clothing is provided
