Qualifications

  • Strong restaurant etiquette and front-of-house operation knowledge.
  • Experience managing reservations, waitlists, and guest flow.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask and remain composed during busy service.
  • Flexible part-time schedule including evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

We are seeking an energetic, polished, and welcoming Part-Time Host to join the team at Dizzy’s Club at Jazz at Lincoln Center. As one of the first and last points of contact for our guests, you’ll help set the tone for an unforgettable experience where world-class jazz, hospitality, and New York City energy come together. The ideal candidate has a natural ability to connect with people, stays composed during busy service periods, and understands that exceptional hospitality begins the moment a guest arrives. From managing reservations and seating to welcoming guests and supporting the front-of-house team, you’ll play an important role in creating a smooth, memorable experience from arrival to farewell.

Responsibilities
Guest Welcome & Experience
  • Greet and welcome guests with warmth, professionalism, and enthusiasm.
  • Create a positive first impression and provide a courteous farewell as guests depart.
  • Escort guests to their assigned dining or bar areas, present menus, and introduce them to their server.
  • Provide additional assistance to guests who may require extra attention.
Reservations, Seating & Guest Flow
  • Manage reservations, waitlists, seating assignments, and guest flow throughout service.
  • Monitor dining and bar areas to help maximize seating while maintaining a comfortable guest experience.
  • Communicate closely with servers and management regarding table availability, seating capacity, and guest needs.
Guest Communication
  • Answer incoming phone calls professionally and assist with reservations, general questions, and other inquiries.
  • Manage incoming voicemails and ensure messages are accurately documented and communicated.
  • Provide clear and accurate information about the guest experience and venue operations.
Front-of-House Support
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming reception and entrance area.
  • Assist the service team as needed to support smooth operations.
  • Provide coat check services when required, handling guests’ belongings carefully and securely.
  • Collaborate with front-of-house and back-of-house teams to support efficient service.
Qualifications
  • 2-3 years of previous Host/Hostess or similar guest-facing hospitality experience is preferred, particularly in a high-volume NYC restaurant, club, or hospitality environment.
  • Strong understanding of restaurant etiquette, guest service standards, and front-of-house operations.
  • Experience managing reservations, waitlists, seating arrangements, and guest flow.
  • Excellent customer service, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and maintain composure during busy service periods.
  • Professional, welcoming, and team-oriented approach.
  • Strong sense of urgency and ability to respond quickly to guest and operational needs.
  • Familiarity with applicable health and safety standards.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout a shift.
  • Availability to work a flexible part-time schedule, including evenings, weekends, and late nights, based on operational needs.
