Position Summary

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Host Associate-Food Service. Under the direction of the Patient Services Management, the Host Associate is responsible for enhancing the quality of care by creating a hospitable atmosphere throughout the patient's hospital stay.

Job Responsibilities

1. Remain available to patients at meal times to ensure satisfaction by verifying correct orders and timely tray delivery.
2. Maintain a safe, clean, and functional work environment.
3. Present a professional appearance and communicate courteously, demonstrating good customer service skills.
4. Attend training sessions and meetings as required.
5. Maintain patient confidentiality as per NYULMC policies.
6. Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
7. Review patient census, articulate menu selections, and liaise with Patient Services for meal setup.
8. Incorporate the organization’s Core Values—Professionalism, Respect, Integrity, Diversity, and Excellence—into daily duties and foster positive guest relations.
9. Consult with Nutritionists and Supervisors regarding dietary needs and patient status changes.
10. Communicate special dietary requests to supervisors.
11. Use Room Service Choice on a handheld tablet to enter patient meal preferences and answer menu-related questions.
12. Assemble and serve trays, deliver meals to patient rooms, and retrieve soiled trays.
13. Keep track of menu tallies, update menus, and ensure timely meal service for new and discharged patients.
14. Restock supplies and answer phones courteously, recording calls as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent required; some college or higher education preferred. Must be fluent in English; bilingual skills are a plus. Basic math, computer, and keyboarding skills are necessary. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to perform service recovery. Ability to walk to various units multiple times a day. Prior hospital food service experience is advantageous.
