Big Whiskey's American Restaurant & Bar in Town of Florida, NY is seeking a friendly Host/Hostess to warmly greet guests on arrival and manage seating to best accommodate guests.

You will open doors, manage waitlists, provide estimated wait times, coordinate with servers, and keep the hostess stand and bathrooms clean. No prior restaurant experience is required, and grooming as well as clear communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Stand for long periods (up to 5 hours).
• Clear and effective communication in the predominant language(s) of our guests.
• Exceptional grooming habits.

Responsibilities

• Warmly greet guests on arrival.
• Open front door for guests when possible.
• Record guest names and party size when seating is limited.
• Call out name and party when tables are ready.
• Provide guests with estimated wait times.
• Accommodate special seating requests.
• Seat guests based on preferences and balancing of customer flow in service stations.
• Help bus tables and keep floors clean.
• Keep hostess stand and closet clean and stocked.
• Inspect foyer windows and general cleanliness.
• Stock bathrooms and perform hourly checks.
• Offer guests a menu and inform them of their server’s name when seating.
• Relay messages to servers as needed.
• Thank guests and invite them to return.
• Answer the phone with a smile and the correct greeting.

Summary of Position:

Welcome and warmly greet guests on arrival. Manage the efficient and timely seating of our guests to a table that best serves their wishes.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Warmly and graciously greet all guests upon arrival
• When possible, open the front door for guests entering or leaving the restaurant
• When immediate seating is limited, record guest names and the number of people in their party
• Call out name and number of party when tables become available
• Provide guests with estimated waiting time
• Accommodate special seating requests for guests whenever possible
• Seat guests based on guest preferences and balancing of customer flow in service stations
• Help bus tables and help keep floors clean
• Keep hostess stand and closet clean and stocked
• Clean all windows in the foyer
• Stock bathrooms and make sure they stay clean with hourly bathroom checks
• Upon seating, offer guests a menu and inform them of their server’s name. Inspect table for proper presentation and completeness
• Relay messages to servers as needed
• Thank guests as they leave and invite them to return
• Answer the phone with a smile and the correct greeting
