Job summary

Prismhr Hire is seeking a Host/Hostess for our Avon, NY restaurant. The role warmly welcomes guests, manages seating, answers phones, handles curbside to-go orders, and supports the front-of-house team to ensure a smooth dining experience.

You will maintain a clean host area, assist with reservations, use the guest management system, and uphold safety and cleanliness standards. A friendly, professional appearance and reliable transportation are required, as is English fluency and basic computer

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, write and speak English.
• Food Safety certification required by state law.
• Reliable transportation to and from work.
• Basic computer usage skills.
• Dress and appearance policy compliance (black slip resistant shoes).
• Ability to pass general information and departmental tests (test score 90%+).

Responsibilities

• Believes in and follows all team standards and expectations.
• Adheres to attendance policy and procedural compliance.
• Goes on shift in full uniform.
• Host stand setup, opening duties, running side work and closing duties.
• Be the positive and uplifting first and last impression of our guests.
• Answer the phone promptly with a smile.
• Communicate and seat guests in an organized, professional and friendly fashion.
• Accept reservations based on Company standards.
• Manage quotes and waiting periods based on Company standards using a guest management system.
• Inspect restrooms and parking lot for cleanliness.
• Maintain cleanliness of the host area and guest waiting areas.
• Attend all employee meetings and bring suggestions for improvement.
• Maintain restaurant safety and sanitation.
• Assist in table maintenance and bussing for prompt seating.
• Adhere to liquor service laws.
• Alert Manager to any intoxicated guests.
• Be friendly and courteous on the phone and in person.
• Maintain a clean and professional appearance.
• Handle guest concerns with courtesy.
• Provide information to guests when requested.
• Process guest retail sales.
• Take to-go orders and process payment.
• Perform other duties as assigned by a Manager.

Minimum Qualifications

• Knowledge of basic restaurant hospitality and fully engaged, service-minded attitude.
• Food Safety certification, as state law requires.

• Good hearing for safety and accurate communication (with or without accommodation).
• Must be able to read, write and speak in English.
• Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
• Basic computer usage skills.
• Must possess valid food safety certification or any other food/alcohol certification if required by state law.
• Compliance with our dress and appearance policy including black slip resistant shoes.
• Ability to pass general information and departmental tests (test score of 90% or higher).

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods standing.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position does not include any supervisory responsibilities.
