Job summary

785 Beer Company is seeking a Lead Host who sets the tone for guests as they arrive. This hands-on role leads the host stand, manages reservations and walk-ins, and guides guests to the taproom, private events, and pickleball courts.

Reporting to the manager on duty, you’ll train new hosts, keep the entryway tidy, coordinate with servers and kitchen, and ensure guests feel welcome throughout their visit.

Qualifications

• Prior restaurant host or guest service experience preferred.
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to stay calm and welcoming during busy shifts.
• Availability for evenings, weekends, and events.

Job description

The Lead Host sets the tone for each guest’s visit to 785 Beer Company. This position leads the host stand during assigned shifts, manages the flow of reservations and walk-ins, and helps guests find their way to the taproom, private events, and pickleball courts. The Lead Host works closely with servers and managers to keep seating organized and guests informed.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests promptly and warmly, answer questions, and help them get to the right space.
• Manage reservations, the waitlist, and seating assignments while balancing server sections and guest requests.
• Communicate accurate wait times and update guests when plans change.
• Coordinate with the manager before seating additional tables when the kitchen or service team is behind.
• Help hosts stay on task, answer their questions, and train new hosts on procedures and guest service standards.
• Keep the host stand, menus, entryway, and waiting area clean and ready for guests.
• Communicate large parties, special requests, accessibility needs, and guest concerns to the appropriate manager or team member.
• Help direct guests checking in for private events and pickleball, including directing court guests to the required waiver process.
• Handle guest concerns with care and involve a manager when a concern needs resolution.
• Complete opening, closing, and shift handoff duties assigned to the host team.
