Job summary

Big Whiskey's American Restaurant & Bar in Springfield, MO is seeking a welcoming Host/Hostess to greet guests on arrival and manage seating efficiently to best serve guests’ wishes.

You will greet guests, record party sizes, provide wait times, and balance seating flow while keeping the hostess area clean and inviting. Excellent grooming and clear communication are required.

Qualifications

• No previous restaurant experience required.
• Able to stand for long periods (up to 5 hours).
• Clear and effective communication in the predominant languages of our guests.
• Exceptional grooming habits.

Responsibilities

• Warmly and graciously greet all guests upon arrival.
• Open the front door for guests entering or leaving the restaurant when possible.
• Record guest names and party size when immediate seating is limited.
• Call out the name and party number when tables become available.
• Provide guests with estimated waiting time.
• Accommodate special seating requests whenever possible.
• Seat guests balancing guest preferences and service flow.
• Help bus tables and keep floors clean.
• Keep hostess stand and closet clean and stocked.
• Stock bathrooms and perform hourly checks to keep them clean.
• Upon seating, offer menus and note servers name; inspect table presentation.
• Relay messages to servers as needed.
• Thank guests and invite them to return.
• Answer the phone with a smile and correct greeting.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Warmly and graciously greet all guests upon arrival
• When possible, open the front door for guests entering or leaving the restaurant
• When immediate seating is limited, record guest names and the number of people in their party
• Call out name and number of party when tables become available
• Provide guests with estimated waiting time
• Accommodate special seating requests for guests whenever possible
• Seat guests based on guest preferences and balancing of customer flow in service stations
• Help bus tables and help keep floors clean
• Keep hostess stand and closet clean and stocked
• Clean all windows in the foyer
• Stock bathrooms and make sure they stay clean with hourly bathroom checks
• Upon seating, offer guests a menu and inform them of their server’s name. Inspect table for proper presentation and completeness
• Relay messages to servers as needed
• Thank guests as they leave and invite them to return
• Answer the phone with a smile and the correct greeting
