Job summary

The Four Seasons Napa Valley is seeking a Host for TRUSS Restaurant + Bar and Michelin-starred Auro. You will welcome guests, seat them promptly, coordinate reservations, and manage restaurant flow to ensure a smooth dining experience that meets Four Seasons standards.

Ideal candidates have luxury‑restaurant experience, possess a Food Handlers and an RBS permit, and can multi‑task in a high‑volume setting. You should know Napa Valley, be computer‑savvy, and communicate courteously with guests.

Qualifications

• Experience in a luxury restaurant is preferred.
• Must have Food Handlers Permit and Responsible Beverage Service Permit.
• Knowledge of Napa Valley and surrounding areas is desirable but not required.
• Ability to multi-task in a high-volume, demanding environment.
• Strong computer skills.
• Strong problem solving skills and ability to handle difficult guest situations.

Responsibilities

• Seat guests promptly at a table pre-set for the party size and according to guest preference and service sequence.
• Set up host/hostess stand, review reservation book, and manage room setup and workload capacity.
• Use software to manage restaurant capacity and guest profiles and communicate to management.
• Answer phones and emails, take reservations, and provide information on restaurant or other hotel services.
• Anticipate guest needs, respond to inquiries, and recognize regular guests by name.
• Inspect and maintain daily menus and stay knowledgeable about items and specials.
• Complete special projects (menu changes, signage) as instructed.

About the role:

The Host is the guest’s first impression of TRUSS Restaurant + Bar and Michelin starred, Auro. The Host will seat guests while coordinating guest reservations and manage the restaurant flow to ensure correct pacing, respond to inquiries and interactions in an efficient, courteous and professional manner.

What you will do:

• Seat guests promptly at a table pre-set for the number in the party and according to guest preference and service sequence and standards.

• Set up host/hostess stand, review guest reservation book, and make recommendations as to the set-up of the room, maintain a station chart and cover count for the restaurant while recognizing the maximum workload capacity of each server in order to meet Four Seasons Service standards.

• Use the available software to manage the restaurant capacity and guest profiles while communicating these to the Restaurant and Management Team.

• Answer telephones and emails according to Four Seasons standards and take guest reservations or provide information regarding the restaurant or any other hotel service.

• Anticipate the needs of guests, respond accordingly to guest inquiries or problems, and recognize regular guests by name and utilize the guest’s name consistently.

• Inspect and maintain daily menus to ensure quality, condition and appearance while developing a complete working knowledge of all menu items and daily specials.

• Complete special projects (menu changes, signage, etc.) as instructed.

What you bring:

• Preferred experience in a luxury restaurant.

• Must of Food Handlers Permit and Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) Permit.

• Knowledge of Napa Valley and surrounding areas, highly desirable, however not required.

• Ability to multi-task in a high volume and demanding environment.

• Strong computer skills.

• Strong problem solving skills, ability to handle difficult situations and guests.
