Job summary

Colonial House in Rapid City is seeking a friendly Host to greet guests, manage the flow of the restaurant, and set the tone for a welcoming dining experience.

You will train on the menu, coordinate seating via headset, handle reservations, assist with to-go orders, and work with servers and kitchen staff to ensure smooth service while upholding health and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Complete Colonial House menu training.
• Welcome guests to the restaurant in a pleasant manner.
• Provide accurate wait times and monitor waiting lists.
• Manage reservations as needed.
• Escort customers to assigned dining or bar areas.
• Provide menus and children’s menus.
• Coordinate with bussers and servers about seating options via headset.
• Maintain a clean reception area.
• Cater to guests who require extra attention (children, elderly).
• Answer incoming calls and address customer queries.
• Buss tables as needed.
• Thank customers upon their departure.
• Collaborate with other restaurant servers and kitchen staff.
• Address complaints or problems with a positive attitude.
• Alert management of guest concerns or issues immediately.
• Process cash and credit card payments.
• Maintain health and safety regulations within the dining room and kitchen.
• Take to-go orders and manage the to-go station as assigned.
• Perform assigned side work.
• Be a team player and assist with other duties as needed.
