Job summary

AHC Hospitality is seeking a part-time restaurant team member for weekend shifts at the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel in Grand Rapids. You will greet guests, present menus, manage takeout orders, answer calls, and support efficient service according to AHC standards.

This role includes dining room responsibilities, occasional wine service, and adherence to health and safety policies. Perks include parking discounts, free meals, DailyPay, and employee discounts.

Qualifications

• Must have some restaurant experience.
• High school diploma or GED; related experience and/or training
• TiPS certification preferred

Responsibilities

• Welcome guests to the restaurant, introduce the menu and the specials.
• Maintain daily setup and breakdown of the restaurant per checklists.
• Know menu items and ingredients; know what happy hour and other specials are.
• Forecast business to anticipate incoming cover counts.
• Take reservations through our online reservations system.
• Initiate leads for private dining to increase revenues for the restaurant.
• Be aware of events in the area and provide guest recommendations.
• Follow Health Department specs; fill out daily temp logs, rotate product first in, first out and record/dispose of expired product on the waste log.
• Display urgency to resolve guest concerns or department issues.
• Work efficiently to meet department standards and save costs where possible.
• Keep work area neat and participate in recycling efforts.
• Attend department meetings and communicate with management.
• Assist in counter service, running food, and table service as needed.
• Perform other duties assigned by General Manager or Food & Beverage Manager

This is a part-time position requiring weekend availability. This position is eligible for discounted downtown parking, free employee meals, DailyPay, hotel and restaurant discounts and more.

SUMMARY

Fulfill the daily operations of the restaurant including welcoming all guests, answering telephones and taking to go orders. Follow the expectations of the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel, including, following AHC guest service standards. Create a teamwork environment in the restaurant and produce quality service to each guest.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Welcome all guest to the restaurant, introduce the guest to the menu and the specials.
• Maintain daily set up and/or breakdown of the restaurant by following daily checklists
• Know each menu item and its ingredients. Know what happy hour and other specials are.
• Focus on business forecast for the restaurant to anticipate incoming cover counts
• Take reservations of future business through our on-line reservations system
• Initiate leads for private dining to increase revenues for the restaurant
• Be aware of events in the area. Be able to give suggestions to our guests
• Follow and Maintain Health Department Specs. Fill out daily temp logs, rotate product first in, first out and record/dispose of expired product on the waste log
• Displays a sense of urgency and the ability to resolve guest concerns or department issues on their own
• Utilize time well and is productive throughout the entire shift while meeting department standards
• Looks for ways to save money by reducing waste and controlling expenses. Also tries to generate more revenues by offering ideas and suggestive selling to the guest whenever possible
• Keeps work area neat and clean. Can be found picking up trash in public and back of the house areas of the Hotel. Knows where to recycle items for the department and consistently places them in the appropriate bins and recycling stations
• Associate to attend TIPS training and properly card guests who appear under 40 years of age. Be comfortable to pour wine, beer or make a mixed drink when a bartender is not present.
• Answering the telephone, taking room service and delivery orders. Preparing these orders accurately and delivering following AHC guest service guidelines.
• Actively taking care of each guest according to AHC guest service standards and department standards
• Monitoring food waste
• Maintain restaurant cleanliness and overall deep cleaning
• Attending Department Meetings
• Communicating with your management or team members
• Actively work in the restaurants designated area: counter service, running food, and tables service.
• Any other additional responsibilities that may be asked by General Manager or Food and Beverage Manager
