Job summary

AHC Hospitality seeks a Banquet Bartender to support events at the Amway Grand Plaza, the DeVos Place, and the JW Marriott Grand Rapids. You will provide quality service, set up garnishes and keep the bar stocked, in alignment with AHC guest service standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• Restaurant/bar experience required.
• ServSafe Certification preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Set up and break down portable bars; keep work area clean.
• Maintain knowledge of garnishes, alcohol, wines and ingredients.
• Provide menu recommendations and guest suggestions.
• Follow Health Department specs and FIFO inventory control.
• Ensure guest satisfaction and professional service at all times.
• Maintain uniform, appearance, and punctual attendance.
• Communicate with management and staff; participate in meetings.
• Assist with inventory and reporting as needed.

SUMMARY:

The Banquet Bartender fulfills the daily operations of catered events both inside and outside of the Amway Grand, the DeVos Place, and the JW Marriott. Follow the expectations of the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel, including, following AHC guest service standards. Create a teamwork environment in the restaurant and produce quality service to each guest.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Bartending service includes the proper set up of all garnishes, alcohol, wines.

• Maintain daily set up and/or breakdown of the portable bars. Keeps work area neat and clean.
• Have full alcohol knowledge and knowledge of drink ingredients, including the knowlegde of each menu item and its ingredients.
• Be able to give suggestions to our guests. Know our local restaurants, events, and locations in the area.
• Follow and Maintain Health Department Specs. Rotate product first in, first out and record/dispose of expired product.
• Strive to exceed guest satisfaction and looks for ways to provide the best possible service in all manners.
• Understand all facets of job responsibilities and displays the skills necessary to complete tasks.
• Complete daily cleaning duties and side work tasks, takes pride in their work.
• Report to work on time and correctly follows the department attendance policy.
• Participate in department meetings and communicates freely expressing ideas, opinions or views. Communicates with management and other staff members.
• Display a positive courteous and polite attitude, works well with others.
• Take pride in their appearance and reports to work in complete uniform, wearing the proper shoes and socks, professionally dressed and neatly groomed.
• Display a sense of urgency and the ability to resolve guest concerns or department issues on their own.
• Utilize time well and is productive throughout the entire shift while meeting department standards.
• Knows where to recycle items for the department and consistently places them in the appropriate bins and recycling stations.
• Follow the AHC safety standards of our hotel
• Associate to attend TIPS training, and properly ID guests who appear under the age of 50.
• Notifying captain or management of inventory you notice getting low. Communicating with manager of any special needs of the bar
• Following AHC and Health Department Specs
• Any other additional responsibilities that may be asked by a Supervisor and or Manager.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• High school diploma or GED; related experience and/or training
• MUST have some restaurant/bar experience
• ServSafe Certification preferred
