Airport Location: Jersey Gardens Mall

Summary:

The Host/Hostess is responsible for greeting guests and seating them at appropriate tables before introducing them to their server. They may also perform tasks such as ringing up orders, refilling beverages, setting tables, and cleaning eating/serving areas. All other responsibilities as directed by management or the business are also part of this role. This is a non-exempt position reporting to the Store Manager.

Essential Functions:

1. Maintains attention at the entrance, welcomes guests with a smile following HMSHost standards.
2. Records reservations and seating times, providing high-quality service.
3. Maintains and updates seating charts.
4. Prepares and maintains the dining area before service.
5. Ensures sufficient stock of silverware for the incoming shift.
6. Seats guests and advises on menu and beverage choices based on knowledge.
7. Oversees food and beverage delivery and service.
8. Liaises between kitchen and floor staff to meet service standards.
9. Performs cashier and bus person duties as needed, including cashing out guests.
10. Follows cash handling policies and maintains security of cash.
11. Patrols station, refills water and coffee, and removes service items and condiments.
12. Performs additional team duties during downtime, such as rolling silverware, expediting, washing dishes, and cleaning condiments.

Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Work Environment:

• Customer service and cash handling experience preferred.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Ability to read and interpret seating charts.
• Friendly, enthusiastic interaction with the public and coworkers.
• Physical ability to bend, twist, and stand.
• Ability to understand instructions and communicate effectively with customers.
