Job Title: Host
Pay Details: The starting hourly rate for this position is $20.50 per hour. This is a part‑time position.
Responsibilities
- Greet guests and patrons upon arrival at the restaurant with professionalism, customer service, and a hospitable attitude.
- Answer restaurant phone calls timely; assist with transferring calls, recording reservations, and processing take‑out orders.
- Review reservation list and ensure seating arrangement is in accordance to guests’ preferences and restaurant guidelines; escort guests to designated dining space.
- Organize and maintain host stand and entrance of the restaurant; keep menus clean, organized, and updated.
- Maintain knowledge of restaurant happenings, including menu updates, operational guidelines, service hours, and special offerings.
- Possess knowledge of complete menu offerings, including production specifications, ingredients, cooking times, presentation and packaging.
- Support all team members to ensure guests receive high‑quality service; provide notes and insights if guests have special requests.
- Assist team by clearing, cleaning, and pre‑setting tables for next party; ensure hospitable experience for all guests.
- Protect establishment and patrons by adhering to sanitation, safety, and alcohol control policies.
- Understand and assist with execution of responsible alcohol service.
- Follow, adhere, and practice the Safety and Sanitation standards set forth by the Food & Beverage Department, including social distancing, use of face mask or covering, use of gloves when handling guest food, cleaning and sanitizing high‑contact surfaces, and frequent handwashing.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisors and/or managers.
Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum 18 years of age.
- 1‑year experience working as a host in an upscale restaurant preferred.
- Strong attention to detail, strong customer service and hospitality skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and diplomacy.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull 20 lbs.
- Works well with others; establishing and maintaining effective relationships with fellow workers and supervisors.
- Flexible schedule: able to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Must be able to work in an environment with fluctuating temperatures.
Education
High School Diploma or Equivalent.
