Job summary

Shinola Hotel in Detroit, part of Sage Hospitality Group, is seeking a General Accountant to maintain Income Audit, A/R, A/P, payroll system and cashier functions with accuracy and policy adherence.

Responsibilities include posting debits/credits, reconciling bank statements, preparing daily revenue and payroll reports, assisting in group billing, and training departments on SOPs to ensure audit compliance and strong controls.

Qualifications

• One to two years of post-high school education required.
• One year of experience in a similar accounting role.
• Strong knowledge of hospitality accounting practices; proficiency in Excel/Word.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the property’s Income Audit, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll System and General Cashier functions.
• Post debits/credits to proper accounts and verify amounts and codes for accuracy.
• Balance entries and make necessary corrections; reconcile simple bank statements.
• Prepare daily revenue and payroll reports and distribute to department managers.
• Assist in training of accounting practices within other departments to ensure SOP compliance.
• Provide timely reports on revenue issues to Controller and senior management.
