Truth Be Told, the British-inspired tavern located within The Study at University of Chicago, seeks a friendly, attentive Server to join our Food & Beverage team in Chicago, IL. This full-time, hourly role pays $12.70 per hour plus tips and emphasizes genuine hospitality.

You will provide warm, knowledgeable service, guide guests through menus, handle orders accurately, and collaborate with bartenders and the Culinary team to create memorable dining experiences for hotel guests, university

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of serving experience in upscale casual/full-service restaurant, hotel, tavern, or comparable dining environment.
• Friendly, engaging, and professional demeanor with a genuine passion for hospitality.
• Strong understanding of restaurant service standards and ability to manage a section.
• Knowledge of ingredients, allergy considerations, cocktails, spirits, beer, and wine.
• Desire to continually develop knowledge of food, beverage, hospitality, and service.
• Experience with restaurant POS systems and handling guest transactions.

Responsibilities

• Provide warm, attentive, and efficient table service while creating an engaging and welcoming experience for every guest.
• Welcome guests, establish a connection, and remain attentive throughout the dining experience.
• Maintain knowledge of menus, ingredients, preparation methods, daily offerings, and beverage programs.
• Guide guests through menu selections and make thoughtful recommendations.
• Accurately take and enter orders and communicate to Culinary and other team members.
