Job summary

The Gathering Place in Denver, CO is seeking a Hospitality Coordinator to support the prepared foods program, food pantry, and boutique services. You will collaborate with the Hospitality Program Manager to create menus, manage inventory, and ensure safe, trauma-informed engagement with members.

Responsibilities include direct member engagement, coordinating volunteers and sponsors, and maintaining accurate program documentation.

Qualifications

• Able to bend, lift, push, pull and hold at least 15 lbs.
• Ability to work in a variety of fluctuating temperatures.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Current knowledge of, or willingness to learn about, food justice and nutritional insecurity.

• Engage directly with members accessing Hospitality Program services, including food service, Boutique, and Pantry.
• Create weekly menus reflecting a wide variety of cultural influences and dietary needs.
• Keep regular inventory to ensure kitchen supplies and ingredients, food pantry items, and clothing items remain stocked.
• Engage with Hospitality staff, volunteers, and meal sponsors in daily production and serving of high-quality meals, as well as needs related to Boutique and Pantry.
• Knowledge of proper food safety practices and standards.
• Use cultural humility and trauma-informed care when interacting with members, staff, volunteers, and community partners.
• Maintain a physically and psychologically safe environment for members, staff, and volunteers.
• Complete all program documentation and data entry in a timely manner to meet standards and reporting requirements.
• Proactively engage in de-escalation, crisis prevention, and crisis mitigation.

Position Overview:

The Hospitality Coordinator works in collaboration with the Hospitality Program Manager and Hospitality Associates to support and execute all tasks, processes, procedures, and member engagement related to the prepared foods program, food pantry, and boutique programs, including collaborating with Hospitality Program Manager with menu creation and execution and maintaining inventory of items for both kitchen, pantry, and boutique.

• In collaboration with the Hospitality Program Manager, keep regular inventory to ensure kitchen supplies and ingredients, food pantry items, and clothing items remain fully stocked.
• Engage with Hospitality staff, volunteers, and meal sponsors in the daily production and serving of high-quality meals, as well as needs related to the Boutique and Pantry as they arise.
• Knowledge of proper food safety practices and standards.
• Use cultural humility and trauma-informed care when interacting with members, staff, volunteers, and community partners, including mindfulness and flexibility regarding food preferences, sensitivities, and needs.
• Maintain a physically and psychologically safe environment for members, staff, and volunteers.
• Complete all program documentation and data entry in a timely manner to meet organizational, legal, and contractual standards and reporting requirements.
• Proactively engage in de-escalation, crisis prevention, and crisis mitigation.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Compassionate and empathetic approach to working with diverse populations.
• Current knowledge of, or willingness to learn, how to operate a computer and other office machinery, such as a copy machine or printer, and office software, such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and other programs.
• Preferred: Minimum one year of experience in food service or one year in a food service/culinary training program.
• Preferred: Knowledge of, or lived experience with, homelessness, poverty, women and trans issues, substance misuse.
