St. Joseph Medical Group and Kansas City Physician Care in Kansas City, Missouri, seek an Academic Hospitalist to join the Internal Medicine Residency Program. This role blends inpatient and outpatient care with medical student and resident education in a dynamic academic setting.

The position emphasizes teaching, mentoring, and program development within the residency program, with a 7-on/7-off 12-hour schedule and shared call among providers.

Qualifications

• Board certification in Internal Medicine is required.
• Three+ years of post-residency hospitalist experience.
• Proven teaching and mentoring of medical students and residents.
• MD or DO with Missouri license (or eligible) and current DEA registration.
• BLS or ACLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Work directly with residents and medical students in inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Teach lectures, conferences, and core residency curriculum.
• Participate in resident mentoring, evaluation, and program development.
• Provide care across inpatient, outpatient, and skilled nursing environments.
• Be an integral part of an established Internal Medicine Residency Program.

Overview

Join the Academic Internal Medicine Section at St. Joseph Medical Center and play a key role in our ACGME-accredited Internal Medicine Residency Program. This position offers the opportunity to combine clinical practice with resident and medical student education in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

Responsibilities

• Work directly with residents and medical students in inpatient and outpatient settings
• Teach lectures, conferences, and core residency curriculum
• Participate in resident mentoring, evaluation, and program development
• Provide care across inpatient, outpatient, and skilled nursing environments
• Be an integral part of an established Internal Medicine Residency Program

Schedule & Call

• 7-on / 7-off inpatient schedule
• 12-hour shifts
• Shared call equally among providers
• Approximately 1 in 4 weekends for inpatient rounding with house staff
