Job summary

Petco seeks an Associate Veterinarian / Hospital Medical Leader for our Vetco Total Care hospital in Richfield, MN. The role combines clinical excellence with leadership, overseeing patient care and guiding a team in a full-service veterinary setting.

The ideal candidate will hold a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, be licensed in Minnesota, and possess DEA and USDA accreditation or plans to obtain them soon. A competitive salary with a potential sign-on bonus supports a high-quality patient

Qualifications

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an AVMA-accredited school or equivalent is required.
• Active veterinary license in the state of Minnesota or ability to obtain by start date.
• Current DEA license and applicable Controlled Substance License.
• USDA accreditation or ability to obtain within two months of hire.
• Comfort with anesthesia and routine surgeries (spays, neuters, dentals).

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality patient care including exams, diagnosis, and preventive care.
• Perform routine and complex surgical and dental procedures.
• Develop treatment plans and coordinate day hospitalization and transfers to referral hospitals as needed.
• Participate in rounds and share knowledge with staff to improve care.
• Maintain thorough documentation in medical records and communicate with clients.
• Collaborate with the Hospital Medical Leader to uphold Petco SOPs and patient care standards.
