Qualifications

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an AVMA-accredited veterinary school.
• Active licensure as a veterinarian in the state where the hospital is located.
• Current DEA license and, if applicable, a Controlled Substance License.
• USDA accreditation or admission within two months of hire.
• Comfort with anesthesia and routine surgeries including canines and felines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; strong teamwork.
• Compassionate, patient-focused and professional under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality patient care by performing exams, diagnosing and treating diseases.
• Perform routine and complex surgeries including spays, neuters, abdominal exploratory, and mass removals.
• Perform routine and complex dental procedures including full dental exams, radiographs, and extractions.
• Develop treatment plans and coordinate with referral hospitals to ensure continuity of care.
• Participate in rounds; disseminate knowledge to staff to improve care and communication.
• Maintain accurate medical records and effective client communication.
