Job summary

Oviedo Medical Center is seeking a Telecommunications Operator (PRN) to operate a switchboard, relay calls and pages, and support patient-care communications. The role involves handling multiple lines, routing calls, and updating on-call directories in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Qualified candidates will have customer service experience, fluent English, and the ability to stay calm in emergencies. Prior PBX experience is desirable, with hospital experience preferred.

• Experience in customer service position.
• Ability to fluently speak and understand English.
• Previous PBX experience desirable.

Responsibilities

• Answer multiple incoming telephone lines.
• Obtain necessary information and transfer calls to correct extensions.
• Provide information to callers as appropriate.
• Perform overhead paging.
• Monitor all alarms located in PBX and notify appropriate personnel.
• Respond quickly to disaster and emergency situations.
• Assist with the maintenance of directories on-call list.
