Capital Health is seeking a dedicated switchboard operator to route internal and external calls and support on-call schedules across the hospital network.

The role emphasizes clear English communication, basic customer service experience, and accurate information handling. It is a full-time position with a 40-hour workweek, requiring every-other-weekend shifts 3pm–9pm and a shift differential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency.
• Six months of customer service experience using telephone.
• Clear communication; fluent in English; ability to exchange accurate information.
• Formal customer service training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Answer calls using established scripts and transfer to destinations promptly.
• Operate overhead paging and notify personnel as required.
• Answer code phones within two rings and log code events accurately.
• Coordinate on-call personnel with departments to locate staff within time frames.
• Notify interpreters when language needs arise and connect patients with interpreters.
• Provide equipment to hearing-impaired patients and obtain signatures where required.
• Follow up on resolutions and share updates with affected departments.
