Job summary

Join Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital as a Plant Operator in Vero Beach. You will help ensure reliable steam and chilled water delivery for essential heating and cooling, maintaining boiler water chemistry and plant equipment on a 6:00am–2:30pm days plus call schedule.

You will work with a collaborative facilities team to operate state-of-the-art systems, maintain logs, and support safety and reliability across the campus.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Two years of experience operating high-capacity boilers (>30 hp) and steam/chiller plant equipment.
• OR internship with Third-Class Stationary Engineer License or High-Pressure Boiler Operator License.
• Military experience such as Machinists Mate (MM) or 3E0X2 will be considered.
• Preferred licenses: Third Class Stationary Engineer License (CCE) or High-Pressure Boiler Operator License.
• Preferred: experience operating steam turbines.

Responsibilities

• Operate the steam plant during assigned shift and in emergencies.
• Ensure safe and effective operation of the plant.
• Regenerate and recharge water-conditioning equipment and adjust chemical treatment in boiler water, chiller water and tower water.
• Maintain daily log of equipment status and communicate conditions to the next shift.
• Assist in inventory, equipment rotation, PM and repair schedules; report abnormal conditions.
• Troubleshoot steam/chiller plant systems and correct problems.
• Assist in monthly testing of emergency generators.
• Work with Boiler Mechanic and facilities staff to ensure safe operation of plant.
• Occasionally be assigned across multiple Cleveland Clinic locations.
