Job summary

Saint Mary’s Hospital, part of Trinity Health, is seeking a pharmacist to monitor drug therapy, provide direct patient care, and collaborate with physicians, nurses, and staff to optimize outcomes.

In this full-time role, you will supervise technicians, dispense medications ordered by physicians, maintain accurate documentation, and ensure safe storage, handling and labeling of pharmaceuticals in a busy hospital setting in Waterbury, CT.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Pharmacy; PharmD preferred.
• Connecticut pharmacist license.
• Hospital experience and/or Residency preferred.

Responsibilities

• Monitor drug therapy to optimize patient outcome and provide direct care to patients of all ages.
• Consult with physicians, nurses and other health care workers; dispense medications as ordered by physicians.
• Supervise pharmacy technicians and ensure efficient workflow and accurate documentation.
• Maintain proper records and communicate effectively with the care team.

Employment Type: Full time. Shift: Rotating Shift.

Position Purpose

Under general supervision, the pharmacist monitors drug therapy to optimize patient outcome, provides direct care to patients of all ages, consults and provides information to physicians, nurses and other health care workers, performs procedures to assure the quality of service, supervises technicians as they assist the pharmacist and dispenses compounds medications ordered by the physician.

What you will do

• Ensure the safe and effective use of pharmaceuticals through their proper storage, handling, evaluation, preparation, compounding, labeling and dispensing
• Maintain proper records, documentation and provide complete communication as appropriate
• Follow department guidelines with regard to clinical interventions and provides drug information as required and/or requested
• Supervise pharmacy technicians and maintain efficient workflow of the area they are working in

Minimum Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Pharmacy, PharmD preferred
• Connecticut pharmacist license
• Hospital experience and/or Residency preferred
