Job summary

Mass General Brigham’s Nantucket Cottage Hospital is seeking a security professional to protect patients, visitors and staff. You will patrol assigned areas, enforce safety regulations, investigate incidents, and coordinate with law enforcement when needed.

Strong communication and customer service skills are essential, as is the ability to de-escalate tense situations. The role requires physical stamina and the capacity to work both independently and as part of a team, with a shifting schedule

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice preferred
• No experience in lieu of degree accepted
• Class D Driver’s License preferred
• BLS Certification preferred
• CHSO certification preferred
• CHSS certification preferred
• MGH Security RMV Check/Registry of Motor Vehicles Driving Report preferred
• 3–5 years experience in hospital security/police/emergency/customer service preferred
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
• Ability to de-escalate anxious/stressed people
• Independent and teamwork capability
• Strong writing for documentation
• Intermediate computer skills and databases

Responsibilities

• Patrol assigned areas, focusing on high-risk zones.
• Identify unsafe conditions and protect hospital property.
• Investigate thefts and misconduct; notify law enforcement as needed.
• Prepare written reports and maintain incident logs.
• Dispatch using security systems and coordinate responses.
• Assist with medical emergencies and restraining patients when needed.
• Participate in departmental committees as requested.
