Job summary

Nantucket Cottage Hospital is seeking a Security Officer to maintain a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff. You will patrol areas, identify hazards, and assist in restraining patients when authorized, while upholding confidentiality and professionalism.

The role requires strong customer service and de-escalation skills, plus experience in hospital security or related fields. Onsite work with rotating shifts and opportunities to participate in departmental committees are available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree preferred; can consider equivalent experience.
• 3–5 years experience in hospital security/police or customer service.
• Licenses/credentials: BLS, CHSO/CHSS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Patrol assigned areas and monitor for unsafe conditions or security breaches.
• Identify and report hazards; deter theft and maintain property security.
• Investigate incidents, question involved individuals, and notify law enforcement when appropriate.
• Prepare clear written incident reports and maintain logs for supervision.
• Dispatch security personnel and respond to medical emergencies or restraints as needed.
