Job summary

Piedmont Newton Hospital is seeking a dedicated Security Officer to protect patients, staff and visitors and to safeguard facilities across our campus. You will monitor for threats, de-escalate incidents, and document events according to policy.

No prior security experience is required, but a valid Georgia driver’s license and completion of required trainings are needed, with opportunities for growth and ongoing professional development at Piedmont Healthcare.

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or GED required.
• No experience required.
• 2 years experience in general security, military or other public safety experience preferred.
• DL NUMBER - Driver License required in state and adherence to Piedmont's vehicle safety policy 3500.
• IAHSS certification as a Security Officer within 1 year required.
• Must pass pre-employment psychological screening.
• Must pass and maintain all training requirements including certifications in Taser, ASP Baton, Mental Health First Aid, etc.
• Georgia POST certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate Piedmont values and excellent customer service to all patients, staff and visitors.
• Screen for weapons as they enter a facility.
• Maintain security of the hospital, professional buildings and parking areas.
• Perform incident documentation and initial investigation.
• Monitor at-risk patients and de-escalate difficult situations.
• Respond to aggressive behavior and apply restraints as needed.
• Enforce all Piedmont policies, regulations, and laws.
• Direct traffic when required and assist with emergencies.
