Job summary

Piedmont Macon North is seeking a Security Officer to safeguard patients, staff and visitors while ensuring a secure facility environment.

Responsibilities include screening for weapons, de-escalation of incidents, incident documentation, and enforcing hospital policies. Experience is not required, though a security/public safety background is preferred and training will be provided.

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or GED required.
• No experience required; 2 years in security/public safety preferred.
• Must pass pre-employment psychological screening.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate Piedmont values and provide customer service to patients, staff and visitors.
• Screen for and interdict weapons entering the facility.
• Maintain security of hospital, professional buildings and parking areas.
• Perform routine safety and emergency security activities.
• Document and investigate incidents.
• Monitor at-risk patients and de-escalate difficult situations.
• Respond to aggressive behavior and apply physical restraints when needed.
• Show respect and courtesy in performance.
• Document in the medical record.
• Enforce Piedmont policies and applicable laws.
• Direct traffic when required and assist with directions and emergencies.
• Promote crime prevention and secure work environment through observation and intervention.

Responsibilities

Responsible for a variety of routine safety and emergency security activities while safeguarding students, employees, visitors, patients and property. First responder to all emergency incidents within the assigned facility. Responsible for the safe de-escalation of critical events and the use of sound judgment in the engagement with combative or escalating subjects.

• Demonstrate respect and courtesy in the conduct of job performance.
• Perform documentation in the medical record.
• Enforces all PHC policies, regulations and applicable state and federal laws.
• Directs traffic when required

H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required

Work Experience

• No experience required
• 2 years experience in general security, military or other public safety experience Preferred

Licenses and Certifications

• DL NUMBER - Driver License, Valid and in State & adhere to Piedmont's Healthcare Vehicle Safety Program policy 3500 Upon Hire Required
• IAHSS - Certification As A Security Officer within 1 Year Required
• Must pass pre-employment psychological screening Required
• Must pass and maintain all training requirements to maintain employment to include certifications in Taser, ASP Baton, Mental Health First Aid, and others as directed Required
• Georgia Peace Officer Standards & Training (P.O.S.T.) certification Preferred
