Job summary

Chesapeake Regional Healthcare is seeking a Security Officer I to maintain a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff. You will protect people and property, patrol facilities, control access, and respond to disturbances while coordinating with local police when needed. A HS diploma and security experience are preferred.

Responsibilities include documenting incidents, writing reports, and supporting hospital operations. Flexibility in scheduling is expected to ensure patient care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1+ year(s) of prior security or law enforcement experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Protect staff, patients, and visitors from violent encounters.
• Patrol hospital buildings and grounds to prevent fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry.
• Check cars for parking decals and enforce restricted-area parking.
• Periodically tour buildings to ensure doors, windows, and gates are secure.
• Question unauthorized persons and route or detain them.
• Call the local police department when needed (911 or 382-6161).
• Report unsafe conditions to Facilities staff; contact Nursing Supervisor on weekends/holidays.
• Maintain contact with PBX and security via radio.
• Write and complete incident reports on CRMC property.
• Respond to alarms and service requests promptly.
• Diffuse crises using communication and security techniques.
• Attend hospital orientations, meetings, and in-services.
• Be flexible with scheduling to ensure patient care.
