Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; in 2026 hires may have education exemptions.
• Registered as a Police or Peace Officer in NYS.
• 6 months experience in Law Enforcement, Corrections, Military, or Security.
• Eligible to be designated as Peace Officer and to be registered with DCJS.
• Valid NYS Driver’s License; must have NYS Pistol Permit.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a highly visible command presence and deter aggression.
• Handle routine and emergency incidents affecting safety and security.
• Monitor facility access and assist visitors with entry procedures.
• Provide courteous, respectful interactions with patients, visitors, and staff.
• Maintain public relations and communicate clearly in diverse situations.
• Monitor entrances/exits and direct those with disturbances off the property.
• Patrol assigned posts and inspect for hazards, unlocked doors, and security violations.
• Protect evidence and respond to incidents following policy and law.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Police/Peace Officer NYS license/registration eligibility

6 months experience in law enforcement, corrections, military, or security

NYS Peace Officer designation eligibility

NYS DCJS registration eligibility

Valid NYS Driver’s License

NYS Pistol Permit
