Job summary

Rochester Regional Health (Rochester General Hospital) is seeking a Safety & Security Officer Trainee to join the Security team. The role provides on-the-job training to perform patrols, monitor CCTV, respond to incidents, and support patient and visitor safety in a 24‑hour hospital environment.

This probationary position (6 months) offers structured development towards a full Security Officer role, with pay range shown and a requirement for NYS licensure and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Customer service orientation and teamwork are essential.
• Strong communication and collaborative skills required.
• On-the-job training/parallels to security officer duties.

Responsibilities

• Complete required security training, certifications, and shadowing to learn hospital policies and procedures.
• Assist with patrols, access control, CCTV monitoring, incident response, and drills while gaining hands-on experience.
• Identify and report hazards, participate in fire safety checks, and support patient and visitor safety initiatives.
• Prepare clear, accurate incident and activity reports while learning investigatory and documentation practices.
• Uphold hospital values, demonstrate integrity, and work collaboratively to develop into a fully independent Security Officer.
