Job summary

Mercy Medical Center, part of Trinity Health Of New England, seeks a Security Officer to join our hospital security team on a full-time, rotating shift basis. You will protect patients, visitors, and staff and respond quickly to incident situations on campus.

Responsibilities include patrolling facilities, assisting staff with potentially dangerous individuals, and reporting security incidents while upholding hospital policies and safety standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• All state licensing requirements including permanent Guard cards.
• Six months or more of private security, law enforcement or relevant military experience preferred.
• Knowledge of PC-based applications in a Windows environment.
• Excellent customer services skills. Ability to think and act quickly in crisis situations.
• Valid drivers license; must be 21 years of age to operate Hospital vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Provides for the safety and security of all persons and property for patients, visitors, and colleagues on hospital campus.
• Assists staff with argumentative, belligerent and combative individuals, especially where there is imminent danger to staff, physicians, patients and/or visitors. If circumstances dictate, potentially participates as a member of a Restraint Team as directed by a member of the medical or nursing staff.
• Patrols assigned areas of the facilities and grounds on foot or car according to established schedule and investigate unusual occurrences. Reports incidents or apparent damage, or loss of patient, visitor, or hospital property through fire, theft, vandalism, or other unusual occurrences.
