Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Akron General Hospital is seeking a Security Officer for PRN shifts, joining a dedicated team that protects patients, visitors and caregivers.

You will perform patrols, respond to threats, escort individuals, enforce campus policies, and participate in drills and training, including de-escalation and taser certification within required timelines.

This role offers mentorship from Police Officers and opportunities for professional growth within a respected health system.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Ohio Valid Driver’s License and eligible insurance.
• One year of experience in Criminal Justice, Private/Public/Military Security and/or related law enforcement fields OR Ohio Peace Officer Training (police) Academy Certification.
• Preferred: OPOTC Private Security Academy completion.

Responsibilities

• Perform proactive monitoring of potential/actual security threats.
• Deter vandalism, theft, and property abuse through routine patrols of hospital property including parking areas.
• Provide escorts to protect patients, visitors, and caregivers and eliminate safety hazards.
• Enforce hospital facility policies (parking, visitation, drugs, tobacco, etc.).
• Maintain knowledge of alarms and emergency/disaster plans; participate in drills.
• Complete required education and training including de-escalation and taser certification as required.
• Provide information/help to promote safety on premises.
• Conduct ED metal detector searches using magnetometer/hand-held devices.
• Log all admissions and searched belongings in dispatch system.
