Job summary

Baystate Health is seeking a part-time Security Officer to protect life and property across Baystate Health facilities in Palmer, MA. The role includes evening shifts 3:00pm–11:30pm, with rotating weekends and holidays, and on-site work at Baystate Wing Hospital.

Responsibilities emphasize access control, patrols, incident reporting, and escorting staff and patients. Qualified candidates will have a High School diploma or equivalent, a valid driver’s license, and basic security knowledge.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Active US drivers license.
• Basic knowledge of security procedures.
• Ability to communicate effectively and provide customer service.
• 3–6 months of security experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Patrols facility and grounds, inspect hazards, respond to alarms and emergencies, coordinate with nursing staff as needed.
• Enforces access control, issues badges, and secures doors per schedule; documents inspections and incidents.
• Focus on protecting patients, visitors, employees and property while maintaining safety and service quality.
• Responds to codes and emergencies; operates fire equipment and supports Emergency Management.
• Assists in traffic control, directs parking and helicopter landings; enforces parking rules and generates reports.
• Handles disruptive situations with de-escalation techniques and restraint protocols; coordinates with other departments.
• Provide escorts as directed by supervisor and ensure safe escort to staff and visitors.
• Performs preliminary investigations and prepares timely incident reports.
• Performs special assignments and supports clinics as required; mobile patrols.
• Provides escorts to patients and staff as needed in emergency or secure areas.
• Baystate Noble Hospital coverage may be required in the absence of other units.
• Demonstrates service excellence in patient and employee experiences.
• Completes incident reports and maintains documentation for supervisors.
