Job summary

MedStar Health is seeking a Security Officer to ensure a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors. You will patrol hospital property, respond to assistance calls, and report conditions that may affect safety, while mentoring security staff and assuming charge roles as needed.

The role requires a State driver’s license, state security commissions, CPR certification, and the ability to work 24/7 shifts, including off-shifts. Experience in healthcare security is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Contributes to the achievement of department goals and adheres to policies and safety standards.
• Assists supervisor with daily shift supervision and monitors security officers.
• Acts as a resource or mentor to security staff.
• Conducts in-service training.
• Assists with training of new associates as necessary.
• Collects and secures patient valuables and lost-and-found articles.
• Patrols facility security posts and may use a vehicle or bicycle.
• Reports safety, security, and law violations; responds to emergencies.
