Job summary

Edward Elmhurst Health in Evanston, IL seeks a Public Safety Officer for Evanston Hospital. This full-time daytime role (40 hours) runs 6am–6:30pm and involves unarmed uniformed security, patrols, and assisting patients and visitors with directions.

Responsibilities include incident reporting, traffic control, escort duties, door security, and coordination with police as needed. Strong customer service and compliance with safety procedures required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• FOID card required within 90 days of start date.
• CPR certification within 90 days of start date.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Patrols assigned areas of facilities and grounds on foot or in motorized vehicle.
• Reports incidents or thefts and involves police when needed.
• Responds to service calls in a timely, safe, professional manner.
• Guides patients and visitors, provides directions and escorts when possible.
• Directs vehicle traffic to prevent congestion and manages loading dock/ambulance zones.
• Physically restrains unruly individuals when necessary and coordinates with police for removal.
