Job summary

NorthShore University HealthSystem seeks a Public Safety Officer at Evanston Hospital in Evanston, IL. This full-time role (40 hours) covers day shifts from 6:00 am to 6:30 pm and involves patrolling facilities, responding to incidents, and guiding patients and visitors.

You will work to ensure safety and security across hospital grounds. The position requires a high school diploma or GED, valid FOID, CPR certification, CPI within six months, and a year of customer-service experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum one year of experience in a customer-focused service-based organization.
• Preferred two years in law enforcement, military, or private security.
• CPI certification within six months of hire; CPR within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Patrols assigned areas of facilities and grounds on foot or in vehicle.
• Reports incidents or loss of property and assists police as needed.
• Responds to service calls timely, safely, and courteously.
• Guides patients and visitors, provides directions, and escorts when possible.
• Directs vehicle traffic around hospital to prevent congestion; issues parking citations as needed.
• Restraints unruly individuals when required and coordinates with police.
• Protects patient and employee valuables and monitors lost-and-found items.
• Inspects doors, windows, alarms, and equipment for proper function.
