Job summary

Mercy Health in Ohio seeks a dedicated Police Officer to support internal and external safety across multiple hospital locations. You’ll patrol grounds, respond to calls, enforce policies, and document incidents, while coordinating with clinical teams and law enforcement.

Required are a driver’s license and BLS certification (within 6 months). Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy certification is also required within 6 months. A 1–3 year background in security or law enforcement is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate's degree preferred.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• BLS certification required within 6 months of hire.
• Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy Certification required within 6 months of hire.
• 1–3 years of security, law enforcement, or military experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Protect patients, visitors and employees with escorts and patrols.
• Deter criminal activity through routine hospital patrols and enforcement of policies.
• Monitor and respond to safety situations and alarms.
• Intervene in confrontations as appropriate and document incidents.
• Maintain incident logs and daily activity reports.
• Demonstrate knowledge of emergency procedures and disaster plans.
