Job summary

Atrium Health in North Carolina is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to perform clerical, distributive, technical and data gathering duties that support pharmacists and provide medications to patients.

You will assist licensed pharmacists with preparation and distribution, handle labeling, inventory, nonsterile compounding, IV admixture where applicable, and ensure accurate documentation, training, and compliance with regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Registration or licensure with state board of pharmacy; must obtain CPhT or ExCPT within 18 months from start date.
• No work experience required; hospital pharmacy experience and CPhT preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist licensed pharmacist in preparation and distribution of medications.
• Accurately selects, prepares, and labels medications including hazardous drugs and controlled substances.
• Screens phone calls and routes as needed using proper etiquette.
• Assists in daily pharmacy procurement, inventory control, and outdate checking.
• Perform nonsterile compounding following USP standards; sterile IV admixture where applicable.
• Inspects medication storage areas for adherence to storage policies.
• Completes and documents medication admission histories and data entry for records and insurance.
• May train pharmacy technicians and extenders; participate in quality improvement initiatives.
• Abides by organization policies; supports goals and work assignments.
• Obtains and records patient demographic information and performs data entry for record keeping.
