Job summary

Memorial Hermann is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to assist the pharmacist in delivering patient-centered care. You will select prescribed medications, stock and deliver to patient care areas, and help prepare sterile products when required.

The role requires 1–2 years of hospital pharmacy experience, knowledge of medical terminology, and current Texas Pharmacy Tech registration or pharmacist intern status; IV certification and sterile products certification are preferred.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Texas State Board of Pharmacy registration or Pharmacist intern status is required.
• ACPE IV Certification with 40-hour course is preferred if sterile products are compounded.
• Sterile products certification is required if incumbent compounds sterile products.

Responsibilities

• Select prescribed medications according to dosage and strength indicated on patient medication file or cart-fill list.
• Receive merchandise and place into inventory.
• Monitor inventory for out-of-stock or out-of-date items.
• Deliver medications to patient care areas.
• Inspect and maintain emergency medication trays.
• Package and label unit dose liquids/tablets and maintain pre-pack records.
• Load drugs into automated dispensing systems (e.g., PYXIS) and manage inventory.
• Respond to medication requests from nursing and other departments.
• Ensure medications comply with safety processes and checks.
• Prepare sterile products aseptically when required.
• Assist customers and gather medication history as applicable.
• Manage pharmaceutical waste responsibly.
