Job summary

Medical City Decatur, part of HCA Healthcare, invites experienced Pharmacy Technicians to join as PRN staff. The role supports pharmacists with medication preparation, IV compounding where required, and patient education in a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Performs medication orders and compounding including IV admixtures when required.
• Follows policies for cart fill, unit dose, labeling, and medication purchasing.
• Assists pharmacists with patient, physician and nursing education.
• Retrieves drug information for pharmacists in a timely manner.
• Collects patient data to help tailor pharmacotherapy and monitor safety.

Responsibilities

• Processes medication orders and dispenses pre-manufactured dosage forms.
• Operates storage, preparation, and dispensing systems per policy.
• Assists with patient, physician and nursing education regarding medications.
• Retrieves accurate drug information for pharmacists as needed.
• Contributes to newsletters and notices for the department.
• Supports management and time/resource planning.
• Maintains professional conduct, attendance, and customer focus.
• Participates in department goals, policies and procedures.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education

High School Graduate / GED

Pharmacy Technician License

CPhT with IV certification

Associate of Science preferred
