Job summary

Memorial Hermann Health System seeks a Pharmacy Technician II to assist the pharmacist in providing pharmaceutical care. The role supports operations across locations, with IV admixture responsibilities and emphasis on safety, accuracy, and customer service.

Required are 3 years of pharmacy experience (hospital preferred), a high school diploma or GED, and Texas Pharmacy Tech registration. ACPE IV certification is a plus; sterile compounding certification may be needed for specific duties.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• High School diploma or GED required.
• Current Pharmacy Tech registration or Pharmacist intern registration with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy required.
• ACPE IV Certification with completion of 40-hour course in I.V. admixture preferred.
• Pharmacy Sterile Product certification required if incumbent compounds sterile products.

Responsibilities

• Selects prescribed medications according to dosage and strength indicated on patient file or cart-fill list.
• Delivers medications to patient care areas.
• Stocks and monitors drug inventory levels.
• Inspects and maintains emergency medication trays.
• Packages and labels unit dose oral liquids/tablets, maintains pre-pack records.
• Responds to oral requests for medications from nursing personnel and other departments.
• Posts and codes patient pharmaceutical charges and credits into the automated system; reviews billing records for accuracy.
• Prepares intravenous antimicrobials, large volume parenterals, TPN solutions, epidurals and IV antineoplastics.
