Job summary

Beth Israel Deaconess Milton is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to join our hospital pharmacy team. Under the direction of the Director of Pharmacy, you will perform a variety of duties including filling unit doses, preparing IV medications, and ensuring accurate charges and compliance with regulatory standards.

The ideal candidate has MA Pharmacy Technician registration (CPhT preferred), hospital experience, and familiarity with Pyxis and MediTech.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED required.
• MA Pharmacy Technician registration required, certification preferred.
• Experience with automated dispensing (Pyxis) and MediTech Information System desirable.
• Prior retail pharmacy preferred with some prior experience in hospital.

Responsibilities

• Restocks floor stock/automated dispensing machines.
• Enters charges/credits against patient profile to ensure an accurate bill.
• Monitors medication order reports to assign medication to an automated dispensing machine.
• Delivers all medication in compliance with all DEA, DPH & State Board of Pharmacy regulations.
• Repackages bulk supplies of medications in unit of use packaging in accordance with all Federal USP <795> & USP <800> standards.
• Prepares and delivers IV medications in accordance with Federal USP <797> & USP <800> standards. Maintains records pertaining to IV admixtures, maintains cleanliness in sterile areas, and completes QA.
• Checks for expired medications within the pharmacy & automated dispensing cabinets. Ensures that all expired/damaged medications are disposed of in accordance with RCRA, OSHA & NIOSH regulations.
