Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support IV admixture, unit-dose preparation and inventory management in a hospital setting.

The role requires Massachusetts Board of Pharmacy Technician Registration, completion of the Technician Trainee requirements, and knowledge of IV admixture procedures, medication names, and dosing terminology. The position operates on varied shifts with weekend rotation.

Qualifications

• Must have passed Massachusetts Board of Pharmacy Technician Registration exam and meet all requirements of Pharmacy Technician Trainee.
• Must know basic IV admixture processes and sterile procedures.
• Must have good math, computer and communication skills.
• Must have clear understanding of medication names (brand and generic), common dosing and sig codes, and medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Assists in preparation of irrigation, IV admixture solutions; uses aseptic technique.
• Fills unit dose, ADM, stock requisitions and maintains inventory in OR, Endo & OB.
• Delivers unit dose, ADM refills, intravenous solutions and supplies to nursing units.
• Fills medication labels; subject to final pharmacist check.
• Prepares pre-packaged medications in common quantities.
• Assists with inventory control of supplies and medications.
• Receives and shelves supplies and medications.
• Performs cycle counts and monthly stock reviews for expired meds.
• Cleans pharmacy equipment, utensils and work areas.
