Mount Carmel Health System in Columbus, OH is seeking a Pharmacy Intern to support pharmacists in medication preparation, dispensing, and patient care in a busy hospital setting.

This PRN, part-time internship offers hands-on experience with sterile and non-sterile compounding, dose calculations, inventory management, and clinical duties under supervision, plus opportunities for growth and professional development.

Qualifications

• Enrolled and in good standing at an accredited College of Pharmacy program.
• Current Ohio Board of Pharmacy Pharmacy Intern license or eligibility.
• Previous hospital pharmacy experience preferred.
• Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
• Commitment to high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities

• Assist pharmacist in the technical and professional functions required in preparation, dispensing, record keeping, counseling, and delivery of medications using proper aseptic technique and accurate calculations.
• Prepare intravenous admixtures and other sterile products, including chemotherapy.
• Compound medications using proper technique and calculations.
• Assist pharmacist in filling orders/prescriptions.
• Prepare sterile products; label medications and maintain records as required by policy and law.
• Provide drug information to patients and healthcare professionals.
• Prepare and restock drugs for automated dispensing cabinets.
• Perform clinical duties under supervision, including medication reconciliation and patient rounds.
• Assist in pharmacy inventory management and non-formulary requests.
